Brendan will be sadly missed by all who knew him, he was a true gentleman of the Showband era and a good friend. R.I.P Brendan. Two of the greatest singing legends from the Irish Showband scene pictured together at the Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal a few years ago. Art Supple from Gortroe in East Cork and Brendan " Hucklebuck Shoes" Bower from Waterford. Both these entertainers are going since the 1950's and have played all over the world in famous venues from Las Vegas to Europe and the UK. Brendan is renowned for having The Beatles open for him at a concert on 2 April 1962 at the Pavilion Theatre, Liverpool, some six months before the release of The Beatles first single Love Me Do in October 1962. Art started his music career as lead vocalist with Cork showband 'The Victors' and Brendan was the lead vocalist with the 'Royal Showband'. Both Art and Brendan are well known locally and remembered from the old 'Red Barn' dance hall days. They are both still performing and singing all the hits from the showband era.

Fantastic to see Youghal's very own 'King of Rock and Roll' Jackie 'baby' Butler and showband legend Art Supple pictured with the late Waterford-born singer Brendan Bowyer in a two-page special - Brendan Bowyer Tribute - centrefold of this weeks Dungarvan Observer. ( Fri 5th June 2020)
The event was a full house of music fans who packed the Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal back in 2010 to see Brendan perform live on stage with Art. The crowd went apoplectic with excitement to see the 'Hucklebuck Hero' singing right in front of them. Brendan was a true gentleman and delighted his fans by signing autographs after the sell-out show. A true Irish music legend.

Brendan was one of the main contributors to the music documentary Wish You Were Here: The Redbarn Story made by local filmmakers Kieran McCarthy and Michael Twomey.
